Event Sourcing 101: Thinking in Events
Software systems model real-world systems. Similar to the way in which certain physical systems are more accurately measured with polar coordinates than rectangular coordinates (for example, the motion of planets around the sun), some software problems are better solved with events as opposed to rows and columns (a taxicab tracking system, for example). Contemplating the state of a chess game is a good way to comprehend the differences between state-based and event-based systems.
